Know the scrap floor before you chase the pickup.

Scrap value is the fallback number that keeps an appliance pickup from being a total loss. The better money often comes from resale, rentals, repair, or parts — but scrap math tells you your floor.

Scrap is the floor

Steel weight, copper, aluminum, motors, and compressors can make a pickup worthwhile when it is already on your route. Long drives for one low-value unit usually do not pencil.

Appliance differences

Refrigerators and freezers may require refrigerant-aware handling. Washers and dryers are common and easy to batch. Ranges and dishwashers vary by weight and material mix.

Batching matters

A single appliance may be small money. A tight route with multiple pickups and a planned yard run changes the economics.

Do not ignore higher value paths

Before scrapping, check if the unit is working, repairable, rentable, resellable, or useful for parts. That judgment is where APN’s coaching layer matters.
