Important: Gas Range Preparation
For gas ranges, turn off the gas shutoff valve behind the range before the hauler arrives. The shutoff is on the flexible gas line behind the appliance. If the range is against the wall with limited access, try to pull it out 6–12 inches first.
We do not cap gas lines — if you're removing the range permanently and won't be replacing it, have a licensed plumber cap the gas supply after we leave. If you're replacing with a new gas range, the delivery crew typically handles this.
Why Oven Removal Requires Professional Help
A standard freestanding range weighs 100–200 lbs with cast iron grates. Slide-in ranges are wedged between cabinets and can scratch flooring when slid out improperly. Wall ovens require unbolting from the cabinet cavity and lowering without damaging surrounding cabinetry.
Our crew has experience with all of these scenarios. We bring appliance dollies, floor protection, and appropriate hand tools to handle every type safely.
Common reasons people need oven removal:
- → Kitchen remodel or renovation replacing the entire cooking suite
- → Upgrading from gas to electric (or vice versa) for induction cooking
- → Range no longer heats evenly or burners stopped working
- → Estate or rental property clearout
- → Moving and the new home already has a range installed
How to Prepare Your Oven/Range for Pickup
- For gas: turn off the gas shutoff valve before we arrive.
- Remove grates, burner caps, and oven racks — keeps them from shifting during transport.
- Note type in your request — freestanding, slide-in, or wall oven, so we bring the right equipment.
- Clear a path through the kitchen to the exit.
Oven Pickup — Frequently Asked Questions
Can you pick up a gas range?
Yes. Turn off the gas supply at the shutoff valve before the hauler arrives. The crew disconnects the flex line following standard safety protocols.
Is oven and range pickup free?
Yes, completely free. A range contains 80–150 lbs of steel, cast iron, and copper — enough scrap value to offset the hauler's costs.
Will you remove a wall oven from the cabinet?
Yes. Local haulers remove wall ovens from built-in installations. Note in your request that it's a wall oven.
Do you pick up slide-in ranges?
Yes. Slide-in and freestanding ranges are both fine. The crew takes care with slide-in units to avoid scratching surrounding cabinets or floors.
How do I prepare a gas range for pickup?
Turn off the gas shutoff, remove grates and oven racks, and clear a path. Don't run a self-clean cycle just before pickup — it makes surfaces dangerously hot.
